Phase and profile analysis of a Pt-Sm alloy sample

Full-pattern refinement was used to separate the contributions of the metallic phases and provide a consistent basis for phase, lattice and peak-profile interpretation.

How the case was handled

01

Model selection

Candidate alloy phases were checked against the complete experimental pattern rather than assigned from isolated peak positions alone.

02

Profile refinement

Peak positions, widths, background and phase contributions were refined while monitoring parameter plausibility and residual features.

03

Research delivery

The final package connected the fitted pattern with phase information, lattice results and a concise technical discussion.

Interpretation boundary

For nanocrystalline alloy data, apparent broadening can reflect size, strain, instrumental response and phase overlap. Structure ordering and particle size are therefore not claimed from a visually close fit alone.

Instrumental broadening data and complementary microscopy strengthen crystallite-size or ordering conclusions when those conclusions are central to the study.
